Turkish Films Festival Held in Venezuela

Yunus Emre Institute added Venezuela to the countries where it promotes Türkiye's cultural heritage in South America and screened the qualified works of the Turkish cinema industry, which attracted great interest worldwide, at the "Turkish Films Festival".

"Turkish Films Festival" was organized under the coordination of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Caracas and Caracas Yunus Emre Institute, in cooperation with Puentes Interculturales Foundation and El Circuito Gran Cine association.

As part of the 100th anniversary celebrations, the festival will be held in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, until November 22nd, 2023. Film screenings will be held in various places in Caracas and various events will be hosted by reputable universities in Caracas.

Türkiye-Venezuela Friendship Group President and Istanbul Deputy Serkan Bayram, Venezuelan Parliamentarian and Venezuela-Türkiye Friendship Group President Miguel P. Abad, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye  in Caracas Aydan Karamanoğlu, Caracas Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Hasan Nalbant, Turkish business people, foreign mission chiefs, representatives of local institutions, scientists and press members attended the gala night hosted by Trasnocho Cultural Foundation

Expressing his satisfaction that the first activity of Caracas Yunus Emre Institute was carried out on the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey,that Caracas Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Hasan Nalbant, who made the opening speech, stated that Yunus Emre Institute, which has nearly 90 representatives  offices in different geographies of the world, aims to promote Turkish culture in Venezuela. 

Aydan Karamanoğlu, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Caracas touched upon the close diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Venezuela and stated that the cultural relations between the two countries will be further strengthened with the activities to be carried out by Caracas Yunus Emre Institute.

Head of the Türkiye-Venezuela Friendship Group and Istanbul Deputy Serkan Bayram made the following assessment: “I am very happy to be here in Venezuela, where I came to Venezuela as an election observer in the past period, this time for an event where Turkish culture is introduced. It is an indescribable happiness for me that the film 'Grain of Wheat' is being presented to people in different climates, far away from the land where I was born." 

Following the speeches, the movie "Wheat Grain" (Buğday Tanesi), about the life of Serkan Bayram, was screened.

The films "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" (Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da), "Wheat Grain", “Among Family” (Aile Arasında), "Whisper If I Forget" (Unutursam Fısılda), "Long Story" (Uzun Hikâye) and "Butterfly's Dream" (Kelebeğin Rüyası) will be screened at the Turkish Film Festival, which will be held in different parts of Caracas until November 22nd, 2023.
