Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and Dutch Religious Affairs Foundation collaborated for the “Turkish Instruction Program for Children in Netherlands” in Elspeet on October 14-15 with participation of teachers affiliated with the Foundation and Turkish teaching volunteers all across the Netherlands.

In the program, Prof. Dr. Kutlay Yağmur from Tilburg University gave seminars on "Overall Situation of Immigrant Turkish Children in Education" and " Bilingualism and Language Instruction for Bilingual Children"; Assoc. Dr. Celile Eren Ökten from Yıldız Technical University gave seminars on "Pedagogical Approaches in Teaching Foreign Languages to Children" and "Effective Teacher Behaviours and Qualifications"; Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Turkish Instruction Manager Kerim Sarıgül gave seminars on "Basic Principles and Concepts in Language Instruction" and "Web Tools to Utilize in Teaching Foreign Languages to Children and Effective Use of Technology in Language Instruction"; and Specialist Kürşat Arama from Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Turkish Instruction Directorate gave seminars on "Material Selection, Preparation and Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Materials in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language”.

The aim of this training is to make Turkish lessons held thanks to the efforts of various non-governmental organizations and parents' initiatives as well as volunteer teachers, more efficient as Dutch authorities revoked teaching mother languages in schools in 2004.

Certificates of participation were presented to the teachers on the last day of the program which featured seminars as well as various applications.
