In the statement, it was noted that the officials attending the conference were targeted by radical Armenian groups and were subjected to verbal and physical harassment, and that the US Diplomatic Security Unit and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) took the necessary security measures and prevented the events taking place on the University campus from escalating.

In the statement, it was emphasized that it was worrying that the hate language of radical diaspora groups, which targeted Türkiye and Azerbaijan, and more recently the Armenian Government and the peace process in the region, turned into violent acts, and noted that the necessary legal process would be initiated against those who physically attacked the delegation.

In the statement, the following expressions were included: “The incident demonstrated that distortion of historical events with narrow and local political motives and statements made to please extremist groups encourage radicalization, hate speech and violence.”
