Turkish Movies Get Full Marks from Kazakhstani Cinema Lovers

"Turkish Films Week" was organized by Astana Yunus Emre Institute with the contributions of the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Tükiye in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstani cinema lovers showed great interest in the opening program of the Turkish Films Week, which will continue until November 18th, 2023, at a large shopping mall in Astana.

Ambassador of the  Republic of Türkiye in Astana Mustafa Kapucu, Kazakhstan Parliament Senator Kayrat Tastekeyev, Parliament Deputy Abzal Kuspan, Astana Yunus Emre Institute Deputy Coordinator Dr. Almagül İsina, National Library Director Gaziza Nurgaliyeva, Kazakhstan National Manuscripts Center Director Candos Boldikov, Eurasia University Turkology Department students, Institute trainees and many cinema lovers from Astana attended to the opening program.

At the first event of Turkish Films Week, the movie "Butterfly's Dream" (Kelebeğin Rüyası), directed by Yılmaz Erdoğan and starring Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, Mert Fırat and Belçim Bilgin Erdoğan, was screened.

“Turkish films are followed with interest in Kazakhstan, as in many parts of the world”

 In her speech before the screening, Astana Yunus Emre Institute Deputy Coordinator DrAlmagül İsina made the following assessment:  “Turkish films are followed with interest in Kazakhstan, as in many parts of the world. Even at events held in the largest movie theaters in Astana, it has become almost impossible to find a seat in the hall. As Astana Yunus Emre Institute, we organize various activities throughout Kazakhstan, especially 'Turkish Films Week' and 'Turkish Films Day', in order to meet this intense interest in Turkish films. In addition to these events, we are showing Turkish films about Turkish history in various parts of Kazakhstan, especially for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.” 

“Thanks to the event, the turning points of Turkish history and Türkiye's cultural values are conveyed to the Kazakh audience. "Youth from Kazakhstan, who showed great interest in our event, have the opportunity to discover Turkey's tourism potential and cultural riches of Turkey through Turkish films, as well as get to know the lifestyle of Turkish people," Deputy Coordinator Dr. İsina said said.

Within the scope of Turkish Films Week, the films "Kelebeğin Rüyası", "120", "Ertuğrul 1890", "Uzun Hikaye” (Long Story), "Son Mektup” (Last Letter) and "Selvi Boylum Al Yazılım" will be presented to Kazakhstani cinema lovers.

Turkish Films Week will end with the movie "The Girl with the Red Scarf” (Selvi Boylum Al Yazılım), one of the masterpieces of Yeşilçam, which will be screened on November 18th, 2023.
