This year, Yunus Emre Institute Vienna also made contributions to Peace Festival which is organized by “Intercultural Solidarity Platform” (Plattform Für InterReligiöse Begegnung – PFİRB) every year in Vienna. On June 13-19, 2015, a Turkish Music Band, Ashina Ensemble, took to the stage at the festival organized in regions 7 and 15 of Vienna with the support of Yunus Emre Institute Vienna.

The group took to the stage with the repertoire consisting of Turkish Music composers of 19th and 20th century. It performed its works of Muhayyerkurdi and Hejaz tunes, and brought their audience together with rare examples of music both in saz (a Turkish stringed instrument) and lyrics.

As the organizer of the event, Chairman of the Intercultural Solidarity Platform, Thomas Fiedler, started his speech by indicating that it was pleasing to have Yunus Emre Institute Vienna at the festival. Fiedler stated that, with regards to the festival itself, it was significant for Turkish Culture and Music to be included in the festival where different cultural groups took to the stage. He emphasized that cultures could build more sound communication by getting to know each other, and that purpose of this festival was also to ensure that different cultures in Austria get to know each other. During his speech, Director of Yunus Emre Institute Vienna, Mevlüt Bulut, provided general information on Yunus Emre Institutes. Thereafter, he indicated that, as an institution, they always supported art and artists, and they would always stand by artists during such organizations.

The festival, which has been organized since 2011, is attended by music bands and dance groups of different cultures from various locations of Austria.
