Before the iftar, the call to prayer was recited and prayers were made in the square. After the adhan was recited, the participants of the program broke their fast with dates and prayed with the congregation.

Those who attended the event were served delicacies from Turkish cuisine and were given red cloth bags prepared by the Presidential Communications Directorate, containing Turkish delight and a holiday greeting note.

“The antidote is our religion of peace”

Mayor of London Khan, in his speech on the platform established in the square for the event, said that the "Open Iftar" event brought together more than 10 thousand people in 28 days.

Thanking the volunteers who contributed to the organization of the event, "The joy of these Open Iftar events is that we can share our religion with non-Muslims. The antidote is to shut down the myths about Islam," Khan said.

"We do this because we're proud of our community. We're proud to showcase Ramadan. We're proud to welcome people of all faiths and non-faith and let them discover why Ramadan is so important to the millions of Muslims living in the UK and the millions of people who celebrate Ramadan around the world."

Salha thanked London Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) for promoting Turkish culture, music, food and heritage in England and continued his speech as follows:

"Finally, I would like to express my biggest gratitude to the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, they sent you a holiday gift as a nice kindness. All of these red bags came from the Directorate of Communications. We would like to thank the Director of Communications of the Presidency, Fahrettin Altun, for his ongoing support, this means a lot to us. It also shows the beauty of Turkish hospitality, which we share as part of our faith."

Zehra, one of the participants, explained that it was a very nice feeling to participate in the "Open Iftar" event despite the rain, and that many people from different walks of life came here to celebrate Ramadan. "It is nice to see that there is Turkish sponsorship in the event. Even though I am Turkish, I know a little Turkish. You are a sponsor and a part of the Ramadan event." Thank you very much for being here," she said.
