Yunus Emre Enstitüsü plays a pioneering role in teaching Turkish language with projects realized and in promoting Turkish culture and Turkey better abroad.

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü plays a pioneering role in teaching Turkish language with projects realized abroad, improving Turkish language and literature education, and introducing Turkish culture and Turkey better abroad. Within the scope of "Turcology Project" carried out by Enstitü since 2011, cooperations have been established with 73 universities in 40 countries from Afghanistan to Czech Republic, Estonia to Argentina, and 16 thousand students have been reached.

Yunus Emre Enstitü's Turcology Project that has been continued for five years, aims to improve Turkey's friendship with other countries, to further cultural exchange, to provide services abroad for those who aspire to study in Turkish language, history, literature, culture and arts fields, to present relevant information and documents for the world to benefit, and to enable continuity of education-training by assigning faculty members from Turkey to Turkish/ Turcology/ Turkish Language and Literature departments abroad, to improve Turkish language and literature education, and to better promote Turkish culture and Turkey abroad.

As part of the project, faculty members in Turkish Language and Literature / Turkish Language and Literature Education / Turkish Education departments in Turkish universities, are commissioned to Turkish / Turkology / Turkish Language and Literature departments in universities abroad which signed cooperation protocol with YEE and to Turkish courses organized in universities, for 10 months. As part of the project, the source book requirements from relevant departments, which signed the cooperation protocol, are also met.

Until today, "Turcology Project Cooperation Protocol" was signed with 74 universities from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Algeria, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Indonesia, Morocco, Georgia, Croatia, India, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Lebanon, Egypt, Mongolia, Macedonia, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Senegal, Serbia, Slovakia, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Jordan, Yemen and Argentina. Nearly 16 thousand students have been reached since the beginning of project and a total of 69 academicians, 8 being local, were commissioned to 39 universities in 27 countries for the coming academic year.

On the other hand, the Turcology departments in universities that signed the protocol, also receive book, source book, periodical, educational tools, equipment support, and renovation and refurbishment assistance.

"100 Turkish Libraries"

As part of the project "100 Turkish Libraries" carried out in different world countries, YEE and Ziraat Bank collaborated for establishment of libraries that feature around 2,000 books including classics for adults and children as well as works considered primary sources for research on Turkey.

The project aims to improve Turkey's friendship and further cultural exchange with other countries, and to share information and documents Turkey possesses with global public.

Summer school programs also organized

As part of "International Turcology Summer School-2016", 120 Turcology students from 23 countries received Turkish and major area courses in July-August period. Throughout the program, students also got the chance to learn about Turkey.

Turcologists commissioned at universities which signed the protocol, receive support grants for transportation, accommodation and participation costs for activities such as research, symposium, and conference. Similarly, Turkish academicians invited from Turkey receive support for activities organized abroad.

Turkish Culture Week and Yunus Emre Literature and Culture Talks

Faculty members who work at universities which signed Turcology Protocol carry out programs under the name "Turkish Culture Week" outside courses to introduce Turkish language and culture, and introduce students to Turkish culture and art through Yunus Emre Enstitüsü's financial support.

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and Istanbul University Turcology Research Institute collaborates to bring new developments in Turkish language, literature, history, art and culture fields to Turcologists, Turcology students, trainees and researchers abroad and organizes “Yunus Emre Literature and Culture Talks" by sending  universities famous Turkish writers, poets and academicians to Enstitü centres and universities with Turcology departments abroad for them to benefit from Turkey's accumulation.
