Yunus Emre Institute in Baghdad Initiates Turkish Language Programs

The Yunus Emre Institute in Baghdad is extending a warm welcome to Iraqis through its Turkish language teaching programs.

In his address, Ali Rıza Güney, Turkish Ambassador to Baghdad, stated, “We are gathered here with another invaluable asset of Türkiye, which operates in over 60 countries through almost 90 representative offices. The Yunus Emre Institute in Baghdad joins our existing organizations such as the Turkish Maarif Foundation and TİKA, with which we collectively engage in various activities, serving as platforms to introduce our brand to the world.”

Highlighting the historical depth of cultural diplomacy between Iraq and Türkiye, Ambassador Güney expressed the goal of fostering stronger ties between the two nations by cultivating an appreciation for Turkish culture among the new generation.

Güney noted the significant interest in Turkish language in Iraq and emphasized that the Turkish language teaching activities are one of the initiatives undertaken to fulfill this demand.

Boosting Cultural Ties Between the Two Nations

Ahmet Can Turgut, Coordinator of Yunus Emre Institute in Baghdad, expressed his joy at initiating activities in the city, conveying the commitment to enhance cultural ties between the two countries through the Institute’s upcoming initiatives.

Iraqi Public Personnel to Acquire Turkish Language Skills

Coordinator Turgut mentioned that 70 Iraqi trainees have enrolled in Turkish courses. He highlighted that, as part of the agreement signed with the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and Defense, the Institute plans to organize Turkish courses for Iraqi public personnel in March 2024.

Turgut announced the initiation of online courses for individuals residing outside Baghdad and added that, in addition to Turkish language courses, upcoming activities will encompass cultural, scientific, and academic studies, vocational courses, as well as cinema meetings.
