Yuruk Bride in Zagreb

Photography exhibition on a most important cultural heritage of Anatolia, Yuruk Culture, featuring colourful wedding customs and a Yuruk bride in a wedding gown, opened on May 11th, 2017 in Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition, organized by Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü in collaboration with Antalya Promotion Foundation and Antalya Women's Museum, was attended by the Turkish Republic Public Inspector Yahya Akman and his delegation, officials of the Turkish Embassy in Zagreb, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Zagreb, diplomatic corps officials, representatives of various cultural institutions, and a large number of distinguished guests.

Curated by Prof. Dr. Nevzat Çevik, the exhibition features photographs by photographers Atilla Erden, Attila Durak, Handan Bayram, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Çevik and Deniz Koparal with the installation 'Abundance on the Wall'. The exhibition also features photographs of Yuruk wedding gowns and jewellery prepared by Antalya Technical School for Girls.

The exhibition titled "Abundance on the Wall: Yuruk Bride" on a major cultural heritage in Turkish culture, the Yuruk culture which is at the same time facing extinction, through the theme “marriage” which symbolizes continuation of life, can be visited at Zagreb Yunus Emre Enstitüsü from May 11th to June 9th, 2017.
