Looking at Czarist Russia from Photography Collection of Yıldız Palace

The photography exhibition entitled "Yıldız Sarayı Fotoğraf Koleksiyonu’ndan Çarlık Rusya’sına Bakmak" (Looking at Czarist Russia from Photography Collection of Yıldız Palace) has been held in Moscow, the capital of Russia, as part of the 2019 Turkey-Russia Mutual Culture and Tourism Year.

The event showcased the photographs of the Czarist Russia taken during the 33-year reign of the Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II and kept in the photography collection of Yıldız Palace, and took place at Yunus Emre Institute's Moscow Branch on Friday, June 21.

Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Moscow Mehmet Samsara delivered the keynote speech for the event the first instance of which has been held in Saint Petersburg on April 3, 2019. Ambassador Samsar pointed out that the photographs by Abdulhamid II, who had exhibited active interest in photography, constituted a precious contribution to the world's photography heritage.

The next destination of the exhibition, organized in cooperation of the Turkish Embassy in Moscow, will Kazan.
