Traditional Turkish archery has been promoted during the the "Archery Training and Network Building Day" event, held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.

During the event organized as part of the Kemankeş (Archer) Project, launched jointly by Yunus Emre Institute and the Archers' Foundation with the aim of promoting traditional Turkish archery and raising archers from every part of the world for contributing to intercultural dialogue, the Turkish archery was explained in all respects and target practice was performed.

The participants were given training by Viktoria Angel, a Hungarian who was learning Turkish at Yunus Emre Institute's Budapest Branch. It was the first time for most of the participants to shoot arrows, and information on the history of Turkish archery was also provided during the event. Following the training, a contest was held and the winners were presented with gifts.

The event was held at Royal Guoden Pijl Archery Club, established in 1892, and it was quite popular among the participants. It is planned to hold another in Brussels next year.
