Great Interest in Turkish Works at Peja Book Fair

Publishers from Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo and Turkey attended Peja Book Fair organized in Kosovo between October 10-14, 2020. Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Engelbert Zefaj and author Sinan Yağmur attended the fair organized with the support of Yunus Emre Institute.

Organized for the seventh time in Peja city in the west of Kosovo, Peja Book Fair hosted booklovers.

Publishers from Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo and Turkey attended the fair organized in Peja Square under the coordination of Peja "Azem Shkreli" Library and with the contributions of Peja Municipality and Peja Yunus Emre Institute. Turkish books as well as the works of Turkish authors translated into Albanian were on display during the fair organized between October 10-14, 2020.

IT WILL TURN INTO A TRADITION

Director of Kosovo Yunus Emre Institute Mehmet Ülker, PhD, said that they aimed to turn into a tradition the book fair organized thereby with Peja Municipality this year.

Stressing that such events were of great importance as Kosovo was a developing country, Ülker said: "Such events ensure that Kosovo becomes more developed and stronger. This is why we attach great importance to such events. We would like to state that we are ready to offer support for the translation of the books not only from Turkish into Albanian, but also from Albanian to Turkish."

ALBANIAN EDITION OF SİNAN YAĞMUR'S BOOK PRESENTED AT THE FAIR

The guest of honor at the fair was Sinan Yağmur, the guest of Yunus Emre Institute. The seasoned author both participated in meetings and signed the books of his fans.

Renowned for his Tears of Love book series and his best-selling book Stars of Ravza, author Sinan Yağmur said that his last book "Tears of Love - Yunus Emre" was translated into Albanian. Acclaimed for his Tears of Love series written as sufi biographies, Sinan Yağmur has authored books such as Tennure ve Ateş, Kerbela – Aşk’a Bela: Hz. Hüseyin, Barış Peygamberi: Hz. Muhammed, Hüzün Yanığı, Aşk’a Yolculuk, Her Anne Bir Melektir, Aşkın Meali, Babalar da Ağlar, Aşkın 7 Hali and Öğretmence Sevebilmek İnsanı.

Cultural Director of Peja Municipality Xhenet Syka: “I cannot imagine the existence of a city that cannot feel the value of the book. Therefore, this international fair where our country meets universal cultural values is a great achievement for the city of Peja."

ACKNOWLEDGMENT TO YUNUS EMRE INSTITUTE

Delivering a speech at the opening of the fair, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Engelbert Zefaj said that they both promoted popular academic publications and brought them together with readers at affordable prices. 

Speaking at the opening of the fair, Cultural Director of Peja Municipality Xhenet Syka thanked Yunus Emre Institute for their support to this event.

Syka said, “I cannot imagine the existence of a city that cannot feel the value of the book. Therefore, this international fair where our country meets universal cultural values is a great achievement for the city of Peja." 

Indicating that they also participated in the fair last year, representative of Botimet Fleta Publishing House from Prizren Emir Hukallo said: "Readers in Kosova just like those in Albania show great interest in the works translated from Turkish."
