In Hungary, the Yunus Emre Institute in Budapest and Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) organized an event on "July 15 and the Media through the Eyes of Expatriate Turks".

The Hungarian translation of the book ‘The Night of the Century: July 15 Coup Attempt in the Light of Documents and Evidence' was presented.

The event at Yunus Emre Institute Budapest building was attended by Yunus Emre Institute President Prof. Şeref Ateş, RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin, Turkish Ambassador to Budapest Gülşen Karanis Ekşioğlu, Assoc. Prof. Hüseyin Aydın, Director of the Turkic Council Budapest Representative Office Ambassador Dr. Janos Hovari and guests.

"BRINGING ALL THE PIECES OF THE PUZZLE TOGETHER, HE PUTS THEM TOGETHER WITH GREAT METICULOUS"

Prof. Ateş said that FETÖ had infiltrated the army and other important public institutions for 40 years and then attempted a coup attempt, adding that July 15 was a very important day for both humanity and Turkish history.  Prof.  Şeref Ateş, saying, "I would like to thank Hüseyin Aydın Bey very much because he meticulously brings together all the pieces of the puzzle to reveal this story we live in," indicated that it was very valuable for such events to be recorded.

In his speech, RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin said that the Turkish nation came back from the brink of a great conspiracy and a possible invasion on the night of July 15 and that this attack on the unity of Turkey was overcome by the unifying power of the media tools and being as one. Stating that the Turkish media played a major role in the failure of the coup plotters with its broadcasting on and after the night of July 15, Şahin continued his speech as follows:

"During the July 15 process, it has been seen that the media has become the symbol and indomitable defender of freedom of expression in the face of antidemocratic movements. Particularly television channels played a critical role in the repelling of the coup attempt by the politicians and soldiers fighting the treacherous coup attempt, especially Mr. President, and made a great contribution to the maintenance of democratic order."

"IT IS IMPORTANT TO PASS IT ON TO THE NEXT GENERATION"

Ambassador Ekşioğlu stated that the epic struggle of the Turkish nation on July 15 was indelibly engraved in hearts and minds and that it is important to ensure that the night of July 15, which contains countless different stories of heroism, is kept fresh in the memories through books, documentaries and movies and passed on to the next generations.

Ekşioğlu continued as follows:

"I am very happy to see that our Hungarian friends are with us today. Hungary and the Hungarian people, with whom we have strong ties of friendship, have an exceptional place in our hearts. Throughout history, two countries have stood by each other in difficult and troubled times, and our close relations have progressed on the basis of friendship and alliance. Hungary was among the first countries to condemn the treacherous coup attempt, and it supported us in our difficult days."

Stating that terrorism has no religion, ethnic identity, or nationality, Ekşioğlu noted that it is the duty of humanity to condemn and curse all forms of terrorism wherever it occurs.

"THE ORGANIZATION HID ITS TRUE INTENTIONS"

In the program, Assoc. Prof. Aydın said that FETÖ hid its real intentions by creating a false image and presenting itself as a non-governmental organization carrying out educational activities.

Stating that the organization created this image through propaganda, Aydın made the following assessments:

"It's a mask they skillfully use to hide their true intentions. The real purpose and intentions of the organization are certainly much different than they appear. This organization is by no means a transparent organization. The organization's structure, now identified by Turkish judicial authorities and finalized by the court ruling, consists of a 7-storey pyramid. At the top of this structure is the leader of the organization. At the sixth and fifth levels are the top managers of the organization, at the first, second, and third levels are the people who are in the organization because they believe in its image, and the fourth level is transitional. In the design of the organization, they do not allow anyone else to live except themselves. For them, every entity other than themselves is an element that can be exploited. This initiative created space for awareness within the state. In the message that this organization gives to the world through propaganda, they do not concern with the government. But they aim for the absolute domination of government. In order to achieve this goal, they settled in Turkish institutions with a secret organization. On the night of the coup, our nation resisted the treacherous coup attempt by taking to the streets with the call of our President. This resistance is a resistance to protect the history of democracy, freedom, and independence."

After the program with intense participation, Hüseyin Aydın signed his book for Hungarian readers.
