Güloya Altay at European Summer Music Academy (ESMA 2015)

A Bilkent University academic and Bilkent Symphony Orchestra musician, French horn artist Güloya Altay instructed “masterclasses” for ten days between 19-30 July 2015 with support from Pristina Yunus Emre Enstitüsü in European Summer Music Academy (ESMA 2015) held for the fourth time in Pristina with lessons by numerous artists and academics from various European countries.

ESMA 2015 offering lessons for piano, violin, cello, counter-bass, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone and French horn for the first time this year, featured various chamber music group lessons, individual instrument lessons, solo and chamber music concerts and an orchestra project. As part of the 10 day project, 19 academics-musicians from different European countries trained 170 young musicians from Kosovo and neighboring countries. A gala performance was also organized in Pristina Youth and Sports Palace Red Hall with participation of academy instructors, and attracted a great deal of attention from audience outside the academy.

The 10-day long course that aims to bring together young musicians and enable them to share their knowledge and experience in addition to lessons and performances, ended on 30 July with a certificate ceremony.

ESMA Project initiated by Czech Republic Embassy was organized this year with leadership of Luxembourg Embassy and support from institutions and organizations such as Embassies of Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Switzerland and Norway, Pristina Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, United Nations Kosovo Agency, European Union Kosovo Office, United Nations Kosovo Mission (UNMIK), Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra, Pristina University, and DAM Festival.
