Yunus Emre Institute in Vienna inaugurated with the participation of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu

The Yunus Emre Institute in Vienna which has already been active was officially inaugurated with the participation of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Many invitees attended the inauguration ceremony along with Turkey’s Ambassador in Vienna Mehmet Ferden Çarıkçı, Consul General Asip Kaya, Turkish Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Rauf Engin Soysal and Permanent Representative to the UN Vienna Office Ahmet Muhtar Gün.

We are building bridges of friendship with Yunus Emre Institute’s activities

Beginning his remarks by expressing that they consider Yunus Emre institutes bridges of friendship between Turkey and the countries where they operate, Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Yunus Emre Institute is promoting Turkey’s cultural heritage in the world by expanding its activities to more countries day by day.

Çavuşoğlu said that they appreciate the activities of the Yunus Emre Institute in Vienna which have been going on since 2015 in a city rich of arts and culture as well as the fact that it has offered Turkish language courses to nearly 250 students so far. He added that “we attach great importance to the project planned by the Yunus Emre Institute to translate Turkish literary works to German language. It is obvious that the translation to other languages of such literary works as Yunus Emre’s “Divan”, which has not yet been translated to German, will contribute to cultural interaction. We also think that it would be useful to expand Turkish courses in Austria as a selective foreign language and engage in joint projects with Austrian universities with a view to training Turkish teachers.

After the inauguration ceremony, Çavuşoğlu visited “Public Fountains” exhibition in the exhibition hall of the institute and held a meeting with Turkish and Austrian civil society representatives.
