16th In-Service Training Program for Turkish Teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute and Zenica Doboj Canton Pedagogical Institution organized the "16th In-Service Training Program” for Turkish teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Nearly 50 teachers from different cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the training program hosted by Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute on November 4-6, 2022.

The closing program of the in-service training was attended by YEI Vice President Assoc. Prof. Ahmet Naim Çiçekler, YEI Education Department Head Prof. Yavuz Kartallıoğlu, Education Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sarajevo Faruk Berat Akçeşme, YEI Sarajevo Coordinator Dr. Mehmet Akif Yaman, Sarajevo Canton Minister of Education of Naida Hota Muminovic and Zenica Doboj Canton Head of Pedagogical Institution Aida Salkic.

6,500 STUDENTS LEARN TURKISH IN 200 SCHOOLS ACROSS BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Yunus Emre Institute Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Naim Çiçekler stated: "Turkish has been an elective course in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the level of secondary education since 2011. Currently, 6,500 students are learning Turkish in 200 schools."

In her speech, Aida Salkic, Head of the Pedagogical Institution of Zenica Doboj Canton, emphasized to the teachers participating in the training that the new approaches and methods learned in the training should be applied in the classroom.

In his speech, Yunus Emre Institute Education Department Head Prof. Yavuz Kartallıoğlu emphasized that the My Choice Is Turkish Project implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina holds significance for the Institute. Prof. Kartallıoğlu emphasized that the activities carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of this project were planned by taking examples from all countries where Turkish is taught as an elective foreign language.

"OUR TURKISH LANGUAGE TEACHING ACTIVITIES WILL CONTINUE"

In his speech, Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Dr. Mehmet Akif Yaman expressed that the 16th training program is an indicator of the importance the Institute attaches to the My Choice Is Turkish Project. Prof. Yaman remarked: "Our Turkish language teaching activities under this project have never been interrupted so far and they will continue the same way."

The program, which included seminars and workshops, ended with the presentation of participation certificates.

TRAINING TRAINERS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD

Yunus Emre Institute organizes "training of trainers" programs in order to contribute to the professional competencies of Turkologists, academics and teachers working in the field of Turkish language teaching in Turkey and abroad. In the training of trainers programs, Institute experts provide comprehensive training under many subjects such as current studies, methods and approaches in the field.
