Future Turkologists to Be Trained in Libya
Within the framework of the cultural diplomacy activities it carries out worldwide and the expansion strategy it pursues in the African continent, Yunus Emre Institute is preparing to weave permanent cultural networks in Libya, where it will lay the cornerstones of Turkish culture, especially Turkish language teaching activities.
Yunus Emre Institute (YEI), and Misurata University, one of the prestigious universities of Libya, signed a "Turkology Project Cooperation Protocol" on October 24, 2022, in order to meet the intense interest in Turkish and to spread Turkish culture in Libya. Yunus Emre Institute Vice President Dr. Abdullah Kutalmış Yalçın and Misurata University President Prof. Mohamed Danfour attended the signing ceremony in Ankara.
TURKISH EDUCATION STARTS AT LIBYA'S PRESTIGIOUS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION MİSURATA UNIVERSITY
Yunus Emre Institute will accelerate its Turkish language teaching activities throughout Libya by starting Turkish courses at Misurata University with its expert staff in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. The institute will also carry out many studies, especially the curriculum preparations for the establishment of a Turkology department within the university. Following the establishment of the Turcology department by the Institute within the scope of the protocol, the foundations were laid for the opening of the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center Representative Office within the university. In order to ensure that future Turkologists in Libya are trained in the best way possible, the Institute will provide a large number of materials, such as teaching sets and printed publications in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, and will carry out studies for successful Turkology students to participate in the Turkish Summer School program in Turkey.
YUNUS EMRE INSTITUTE'S ACTIVITIES IN TEACHING TURKISH IN LIBYA
Yunus Emre Institute, with its online Turkish courses launched during the pandemic, reached countries where there are no Cultural Centers and brought together nearly 2 thousand people across Libya with Turkish and Turkish culture. Through its projects and activities around the world, the Institute establishes lasting cultural ties between Turkey and other countries and contributes positively to relations between countries in many fields, especially in the fields of science, education, and culture.
