“Reading the Balkans from Anatolia at the End of the Century” Program in Skopje

With the contributions of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, Skopje Yunus Emre Institute, Turkish Maarif Foundation and the International Balkan University (IBU), a program called “Reading the Balkans from Anatolia at the End of the Century” was held in cooperation with the Anatolian School and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB).

 

In the program hosted by Skopje Yunus Emre Institute on October 16th, 2023, panels and author meetings on the subject of “Yahya Kemal Beyatlı” were held.

 

Skopje Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Serhat Kula, Sami Güçlü, the chairman of the Executive Board of the Anatolian School, Professor Mustafa İsen, representatives of Turkish institutions, teachers, students and members of the press attended.

 

In his speech at the program, “Skopje is the city of Yahya Kemal, one of the most important names of Turkey. We organized panels and author meetings in our program called ‘Reading the Balkans from Anatolia at the End of the Century’. In the coming days, we will visit Kosovo within the scope of the program and organize an event at the Yunus Emre Institute’s representative office in Prizren,” Sami Güçlü, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Anatolian School, said.

 

In his speech, expressing his pleasure in hosting the program, Skopje Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Serhat Kula stated that Anatolian School students studied the works of the authors they chose in different time periods and made presentations at various scientific meetings, and in the program, the students made presentations about Yahya Kemal Beyatlı.

 

Coordinator Kula used the following expression: “Within the framework of this program, as Skopje Yunus Emre Institute, we had the opportunity to bring together researchers who work on Yahya Kemal Beyatlı in the region, writers who published works about Yahya Kemal, and Anatolian School students.”

 

The program ended with panels on Yahya Kemal Beyatlı and writer meetings, followed by a mini concert featuring Rumelian folk songs.
