Turkish to Be Spoken Thousands of Kilometers Away

Yunus Emre Institute will bring together thousands of Bruneians with Turkish language and culture by expanding its field of activity in Brunei, located in Asia, where the interest in Turkish language and culture is increasing day by day.

NUMBER OF INSTITUTIONS TEACHING TURKISH IN BRUNEI IS INCREASING

Following the Institute's cooperation with Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) in Brunei, Turkish and Turkish culture will be introduced at Brunei University of Technology.

Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bandar Seri Begawan, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Yunus Emre Institute and Brunei University of Technology on December 15, 2022.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Hamit Ersoy, Turkish Ambassador to Bandar Seri Begawan and Prof. Dayang Hjh Zohrah, Rector of Brunei University of Technology.

Turkish Ambassador to Bandar Seri Begawan Prof. Hamit Ersoy stated: "This year, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the second higher education institution in Brunei. I believe that these breakthroughs realized in Brunei will lead the way to cooperation with more institutions in the future."

Ambassador Prof. Ersoy emphasized that the memorandum of understanding will benefit institutions, students and academics by paving the way for more joint education and research, and added: "We invest in innovation by empowering scientists."

TURKISH COURSES TO START IN 2023

Promoting Turkish language and culture in the international arena through nearly 90 foreign representative offices in different regions of the world, Yunus Emre Institute will start Turkish courses at Brunei University of Technology in 2023.

STRENGTHENING COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKEY AND BRUNEI

With the signed memorandum of understanding, academics and students of the two countries will be able to cooperate in many fields, especially in the fields of linguistics, art, history and culture. Joint cultural projects and activities will be carried out between the two countries.
