Following Indonesia, Yunus Emre Institute will organize Turkish language teaching and cultural interaction activities in Cambodia, bringing millions of people in the Southeast Asian under the umbrella of Turkish language and culture.

Representing Turkey globally in every field, particularly in culture, arts and science, and promoting Turkey's cultural qualities to the world, Yunus Emre Institute will start its activities in Cambodia, which has a population of over 17 million.

STRENGTHENING TURKEY: EXPANDING YUNUS EMRE INSTITUTE

The Institute takes initiatives to expand its field of activity in countries of strategic importance and countries where there is great interest in Turkish language and culture. As part of its Asia strategy, YEI took the first step towards the opening of its foreign representative office in Punom Pen, the capital of Cambodia.

Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Punom Pen, a memorandum of understanding was signed on December 20, 2022 to establish cooperation between Yunus Emre Institute and the Royal University of Punom Pen in Punom Pen, the capital of Cambodia.

Turkish Ambassador to Punom Pen Ülkü Kocaefe and Rector of the Royal University of Punom Pen Dr. Chet Chealy attended the signing ceremony held at the Royal University of Punom Pen.

CONTRIBUTING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF RELATIONS BETWEEN TURKEY AND CAMBODIA

Ambassador to Punom Pen Kocaefe stated: "Today, I am delighted to witness the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Yunus Emre Institute and the Royal University of Punom Pen. I believe this cooperation will make a significant contribution to the development of relations between Turkey and Cambodia by increasing joint studies in academic, scientific and cultural fields, bringing our peoples closer, developing mutual understanding and friendship."

CAMBODIAN YOUTH STUDYING IN TURKEY ADD A NEW AND VITAL DIMENSION TO BILATERAL RELATIONS

Ambassador Kocaefe said: "Cambodian students studying in Turkey, whose numbers are increasing day by day, have added a new and vital dimension to our current relations. Cambodian young people are full of creative ideas and represent a solid bridge between our countries and cultures. Now we wish to further strengthen this bridge with academic exchanges, Turkish language courses, and various events promoting Turkish culture and art."

PROMOTING TURKEY IN INTERNATIONAL ARENA

Yunus Emre Institute's mission is to promote Turkish language and culture around the world through cultural diplomacy activities. Starting its activities in 2009 in the Balkans, the Institute has expanded its field of activity from Latin America to Southeast Asian countries in a short period of 13 years, bringing Turkey's visibility and recognition to a large area.
