Yunus Emre Institute Carries Turkish Culture to All Corners of the World in 2023

Yunus Emre Institute left 2023 behind by undertaking large-scale projects that introduced Turkish culture to thousands of people in different continents of the world.

On the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye, the Institute carried Turkish culture, which is the foundation of the Republic, to all corners of the world.

Hundreds of activities were organized by the Institute in a wide range for the promotion of Turkish culture and Turkish, which was further enriched by Anatolia's thousands of years of ancient cultural heritage and the achievements of the Republic.

The Position of Turkish Culture in the International Field Has Been Strengthened

The unique elements of Turkish culture, where sometimes Turkish music resonates and sometimes the flavors of Turkish cuisine remain on the palate, contributed to strengthening the position of Turkish culture in the international arena through activities introduced in a wide range of areas, from literature to art, from history to cinema.

Within the scope of sports diplomacy activities, the Institute has increased the interest in Turkish culture abroad, from the program where Turkish culture was introduced in the NBA match held in the USA to the programs where Turkish music was blown in different geographies such as England, Serbia and Malta within the framework of its 100th anniversary activities.

With various gastrodiplomacy activities carried out from South America to Europe, foreign mission chiefs, bureaucrats, artists, chefs and many people interested in gastronomy were brought together at Yunus' table.

Qualified works of the Turkish cinema industry were presented to moviegoers with the Turkish Films Week programs organized in various geographies from Africa to the Balkans. Aware of the intense interest shown in Turkish TV series around the world, the Institute also organized Turkish TV series-themed events.

In addition to the programs celebrating the year 2023 with special commemorative events dedicated to important figures such as the Year of Âşık Veysel and the Year of Mevlana, activities were carried out for the celebration anniversaries announced by UNESCO.

Yunus Emre Institute was deemed worthy of the "State Order of Merit" for organizing cultural activities that contribute to the development of relations between Türkiye and Romania by the institute's representatives in Romania.

With the "Republic" themed activities held specifically for the 100th anniversary, the heroic epic of the Turkish nation, written on the world's stage of history, left its mark on memories with events organized in different fields from history to literature.

Representative Offices Opened in Different Parts of the World

In 2023, the Institute expanded its international activity network through many foreign representative offices opened in different parts of the world, especially in Asia, South America, the Middle East and South Asia.

Turkish Culture and Turkish Introduced to Millions of People

Since its establishment, the Institute has introduced Turkish and Turkish culture to millions of people through face-to-face and online Turkish courses, My Choice is Turkish Project, Turkish Teaching Portal, activities carried out in the field of Turcology, and teaching Turkish with videos.

Thousands of people were reached through the Turkish teaching activities carried out by the Institute in 2023 in order to meet the increasing demand for Turkey and Turkish culture around the world.

In his statement Yunus Emre Institute President Professor Şeref Ateş, stated that the Institute started operating in the Balkans in 2009 and that Turkish culture will be promoted in a wide geography with nearly 90 representatives in more than 60 countries in 2023.

Bu zaman diliminde Enstitü olarak Türkiye’nin kültürel kapılarını dünyaya açarak Türkiye’nin köklü medeniyet mirasının zenginliklerini çeşitli faaliyetlerle tanıttık. Büyük ve güçlü Türkiye’nin hikâyesini uluslararası alanda anlattığımız nice kültürel diplomasi faaliyetleriyle Türkiye markasının güçlendirilmesine katkıda bulunduk.” değerlendirmelerinde bulundu.

President Professor Ateş made the following evaluations: “We are leaving behind the 14th year of this journey that we set out with the mission of introducing Türkiye's cultural heritage. During this time period, as being the Institute, we opened Türkiye 's cultural doors to the world and introduced the riches of Türkiye's deep-rooted civilization heritage through various activities. We contributed to strengthening the Turkish brand through many cultural diplomacy activities, where we told the story of the great and powerful Türkiye internationally."

"We first became acquainted with the activities we shaped with Yunus' philosophy, and then we 'made love'.We have carried out valuable work to make our country a center of attraction for foreigners by highlighting Türkiye's tourism potential and cultural values. In 2024, as every year, we plan to reach more people than the previous year and increase the number of people who love Turkish culture and speak Turkish internationally." Professor Ateş Said.

Lasting Heart Bonds to Be Established with Turkish, Yunus' Love Language

The Institute aims to meet the intense interest in Turkish culture by increasing the number of representatives in 2024, when the first step will be taken into the second century of the Republic of Türkiye, and to establish permanent bonds with different countries through Yunus's love language, Turkish.
