An event was held at Cairo Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the adoption of the National Anthem and the 109th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen and YEI Coordinator Emin Boyraz, as well as institute trainees and Turkish and Egyptian guests attended the event.

YEI Coordinator Boyraz, who made the opening speech of the event, pointed out that the National Anthem is a great, meaningful and universal poem that appeals to everyone who has love for God, homeland and nation in their hearts, used the following expression: "For this reason, we are pleased to see that it is read with the same feeling and enthusiasm by our brothers and sisters in Egypt as well as in all corners of the world."

“We have strong and deep ties”

Noting that they will share the golden leaves of Turkish history, such as the adoption of the National Anthem and the Çanakkale Victory, with the Egyptian people through various ceremonies and programs for a week, Boyraz used the following expressions:

“As Turkish and Egyptian people, we have such strong and deep ties that we share our pain and happiness with the same feeling and sincerity. We saw firsthand that we deeply felt that our hearts were beating together in the earthquake disaster we experienced last year and in the Gaza massacre that is still ongoing before the eyes of the world. On this occasion, I hope that the holy month of Ramadan, which we have begun to understand, will bring peace and tranquility, especially for our Gazan brothers and sisters.”

Within the scope of the event, the documentaries "Adoption of the Turkish National Anthem" and "Çanakkale Victory" were screened, and then the entire National Anthem was read by Institute student Merve Gaviş.

“Çanakkale 1915” Exhibition Opened

At the event, where presentations were made on the meaning of the Arabic words in the National Anthem, the "Çanakkale 1915" exhibition, which exhibited photographs and official correspondence about the Gallipoli War, was opened.

On the occasion of the adoption of the National Anthem and the Çanakkale Victory week, various events such as Mehmet Akif readings and exhibitions and film screenings will be held at Cairo Yunus Emre Institute.
