“Admission of March of Independence and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Memorial” event was held in Doha Yunus Emre Enstitüsü on 12 March 2016.

Event was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Doha Ahmet Demirok and Embassy personnel as well as Turkish businessmen in Qatar and academicians.

In his opening speech Ambassador Demirok spoke as follows: “We are here today to celebrate the 95^th anniversary of admission of our national anthem, March of Independence written during the difficult days our nation went through, which is a guide that led us to light and the symbol of our freedom, and commemorate the poet of independence and nation in Turkey, Mehmet Akif Ersoy. Yunus Emre Enstitüsü was opened in Doha in order to carry out our cultural operations on an institutional basis in Qatar. Yunus Emre Enstitüsü has an important role to play in teaching Turkish language in Qatar, and promoting our culture and arts.”

Doha Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Director Dr. Mehmet Aykaç made a presentation on Mehmet Akif Ersoy's life, personality and the admission process of March of Independence in the conference titled “Mehmet Akif and March of Independence”.

Event ended with a cocktail and a reed flute performance.
