Çengnağme Concert in Stuttgart

“Çengnağme Concert” organized by collaboration Cologne Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and Stuttgart Linden Museum was held in Stuttgart Linden Museum on 13 February, Saturday.

In his opening speech Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş stressed that Yunus Emre Enstitüsü was founded with the aim of furthering the understanding between the people, and establishing a connection between Turkish culture and world cultures. Linden Museum Director Prof. Ines de Castro thanked Yunus Emre Enstitüsü for their contributions. Turkish Ambassador to Stuttgart Ahmet Akıntı who attended the concert expressed in his speech that they wish for the Enstitü to increase its activity in the region.

Prominent Turkish Harp Virtuoso Şirin Pancaroğlu with a classical music education background, was accompanied by Bora Uymaz in the concert which received a great deal of attention from German and Turkish music-lovers.

Artists were presented with flowers by Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş and Prof. Dr. De Castro at the end of the concert.

Çeng is an authentic oriental small lap harp that became extinct in the 17th century. Çengnağme is the melody of çeng that synthesizes the old with the new and aims to reveal the instrument's various.areas of usage through a contemporary perspective.
