“The City in Poetry’’ Project Starts in Poland

“The City in Poetry’’ project, organized by Warsaw Municipality in Poland and featuring the poems of poets from 19 European countries, started with the participation of Warsaw Yunus Emre Institute.

The poems included in the theme of “The Beginning’’ of the project The City in Poetry, organized for the sixth time this year, aim to introduce all people to European poetry and look at the idea of beginning from different perspectives.

POEMS MEET WITH THE WHOLE WORLD ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Within the scope of The City in Poetry project, which started on April 15, 2022, and will continue with various activities for a month, 19 poems will be displayed on the screens of the boards at the Swietokrzyska Metro Station.

As part of the event that will last for a month, the poems will meet the listeners on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube, both in Polish and in their original language.

SEZAİ KARAKOÇ’S POETRY ALSO INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT

Warsaw Yunus Emre Institute also took part in The City in Poetry project with a poem by the great Turkish poet Sezai Karakoç, who passed away last year.

Warsaw Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Abüssamed Bilgili stated that the theme of “Beginning’’ is very much in line with the poetry and thought of Sezai Karakoç.

Bilgili expressed that they participated in The City in Poetry project with Sezai Karakoç, both in terms of theme and in order to introduce the great Turkish poet Sezai Karakoç, who passed away last year, to poetry lovers in Europe.
