"Contemporary Turkish Films Week" sponsored by Turkish Embassy in Tehran, and jointly organized by Tehran Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and the House of Iranian Artists, was opened by Director Coşkun's film "Wrong Rosary”.

Speaking at the opening, Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Rıza Hakan Tekin began his speech by expressing his sadness about the incident in 17-storey Plasku Business Centre, which collapsed after a fire last Thursday. Tekin offered his condolences to families of those who lost their lives in the incident that took place near the embassy, and wished the injured to get well soon.

Tekin said that seven beautiful films from contemporary Turkish cinema were selected for the event, and stated the following: "I am glad that the film 'Wrong Rosary' was selected for the opening program. This is a very successful film in terms of action on clash of civilizations in recent years, religion-based discrimination and belonging subjects."

Tehran Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Director Asst. Assoc. Dr. Turgay Şafak told AA reporter that they aimed to bring Iranian people together with Turkish cinema in a week-long program.

Şafak spoke as follows: "As Tehran Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, established to promote Turkish culture in the world, we have organized this program to bring Turkish cinema which has achieved a serious success in recent years, together with Iranian film lovers The program will last for a week and some directors of selected films will also participate in the program. We bring Iranian film lovers and directors together after screenings. "

In the panel organized after the screening of the film “Wrong Rosary”, film's director Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun, Ali Gemuhluoglu and Dr. Abdulhüseyin Lale answered the questions of cinema lovers that filled the hall.

As part of the event to last until January 28^th, films Honey (Director Semih Kaplanoğlu), Sivas (Director Kaan Müjdeci), Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, Winter Sleep (Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan), Three Roads (Director Faysal Soysal) and Dream of the Butterfly (Director Yılmaz Erdoğan ) will be screened. In the closing program, Prof. Dr. Peyami Çelikcan, Burçak Evren and Barış Saydam will attend the panel titled "Early Turkish Cinema" as speakers.
