Croatian Border Police to Speak Turkish

As part of the activities carried out by Zagreb Yunus Emre Institute throughout Croatia, new term Turkish language courses for Croatian police officers were launched.

The first session of the Turkish language courses organized in cooperation with Zagreb Yunus Emre Institute and the Croatian Police Academy started with the participation of Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Zagreb Yavuz Selim Kıran, President of Croatian Police Academy Josip Çeliç and YEI Zagreb Coordinator Fuat Korkmaz.

In his speech on the Turkish language courses organized for Croatian police officers, Turkish Ambassador to Zagreb Yavuz Selim Kıran congratulated the members of the Croatian Police Department for their preference of Turkish language and stated that Croatian police officers working at the borders will be able to communicate in Turkish thanks to the courses organized by Yunus Emre Institute through the memorandum of understanding signed between the Croatian Ministries of Interior during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Croatia.

Kıran noted that with the Turkish language courses, the communication and coordination between the police officers of the two countries will strengthen and expressed their desire for the cooperation to continue, especially in the fields of security, border security and irregular migration.

CROATIAN-TURKISH DICTIONARY OF HIGHWAY TERMS TO BE PREPARED

Stating that Turkish has an important place in career planning, Croatian Police Academy President Josip Çelic mentioned that they are working on a Croatian-Turkish dictionary that will include highway terms to be published in 2023 in cooperation with Zagreb Yunus Emre Institute.

In the first lesson, Croatian police officers met Turkish Ambassador to Zagreb Yavuz Selim Kıran and spoke Turkish using simple sentences.

NEARLY A HUNDRED CROATIAN POLICE OFFICERS INTRODUCED TO TURKISH AND TURKISH CULTURE

Nearly a hundred Croatian police officers have been introduced to Turkish language and culture through online and face-to-face Turkish language courses initiated by Zagreb Yunus Emre Institute for Croatian police officers in 2021.
