A program entitled "Homage to Turkologists" has been held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, to pay tribute to 82-year-old Prof. Dr. Elizbar Javalidze and 86-year-old Prof. Dr. Tsitsana Abuladze, the country's oldest Turkologists.

The event hosted by Yunus Emre Institute's Tbilisi Branch sought to pay tribute to the Turkologists who have played a crucial role in teaching Turkish in Georgia and ensure that they can share their experiences with the students who want to learn Turkish.

During the event, the academic background of the Turkologists, their work on Turkish language and history, their studies on the Ottoman and Georgian historical texts, their books and their activities for ensuring that both nations know each other better have been described.

The event was attended by Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi Onur Sevim, Georgian Turkologists, Turkology students and guests, and ended with the presentation of plaques.
