"Gül Baba" in Danube Week

Gül Baba Festival was held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, within the context of the "Diversity in Unity: Intercultural Dialogue Through the Waves of Danube," a project implemented as part of the EU-Turkey Intercultural Dialogue Programme implemented by Yunus Emre Institute. 

During the festival, the exhibition entitled "Tulip Motifs in Turkish and Hungarian Culture" by Lea Tóth was opened and various translation workshops were held with the participation of the visitors. Literary texts from the Turkish and Hungarian literature were also read and Bursa Ethnomusicology Association gave concerts.

The Turkish Music Concert, given as part of the activities organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Budapest Branch and Gül Baba Foundation, was attended by Hungarian music lovers with interest.

During the Turkish Music Concerts, given at the Art Gallery of Yunus Emre Institute's Budapest Branch on September 19, 2019 and at Gül Baba Foundation's Concert Hall on September 20, 2019, the ensemble consisting of Uludağ University State Conservatory faculty members Erdem Özdemir, Kenan Yıldırım and Dicle Özdemir, as well as Sakarya University State Conservatory faculty member Hamdi İtil took stage with a comprehensive repertoire of Turkish classical music, Sufi music and songs of the Turkic world. The audience had a chance to look at the Turkish culture with a different perspective thanks to the songs attributed to Yunus Emre and Gül Baba.

On Saturday, September 21, a conference entitled "Gül Baba and Bektashism" was held at Gül Baba Tomb. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taşğın attended the conference as a speaker and the conference provided information on the birth and historical development of Bektashi order and Gül Baba.
