A commemoration ceremony was held at the Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) center in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, on the 84th anniversary of the passing of Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of the Republic of Turkey.

Embassy staff, Turkish citizens and students in Malaysia attended the commemoration ceremony at the Yunus Emre Institute center.

After the speeches of Emir Salim Yüksel, Turkish Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur, and Colonel Sedat Öztürk, Military Attaché, a short video presentation was made with footage of Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

"WE ARE STILL WORKING WITH ALL OUR STRENGTH AS A NATION AND STATE"

Ambassador Emir Salim Yüksel made the following statements in his speech:

"Today, November 10, 2022, is the 84th anniversary of the passing of Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic and our first President. As we do every year, this year too we commemorated Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with a ceremony held by our Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the anniversary of his passing. Of course, we think that it would be better to think of such ceremonies not as an occasion of sadness for us, but rather as an exercise in thinking about Atatürk's principles and reforms and how the Republic he founded can be carried to the future. For, as a nation and state, we are still working with all our strength to raise our Republic and our nation above the level of contemporary civilization on the path drawn by Atatürk."

Ambassador Yüksel noted the following:

"Atatürk's principle of 'Peace at home, peace in the world' is now the basis of our foreign policy. It has been so for 100 years and still is today. This vision of Atatürk his succinct statement, which sets the basis of our policy, will remain central to our foreign policy in the coming years, hopefully centuries."
