Özlem Warren's Book "SEBZE: Vegetarian Recipes from My Turkish Cuisine" Introduced in London

An interesting evening was organized, hosted by London Yunus Emre Institute, where famous Turkish culinary expert Özlem Warren's new cookbook "SEBZE: Vegetarian Recipes from My Turkish Cuisine" was introduced and the participants felt as if they were guests in Türkiye.

Participants had the opportunity to meet with Özlem Warren, learn about the influences of Anatolian cuisine, and discover how Turkish culinary traditions can be incorporated into vegetarian dishes in a fluid and interesting way at the event held on April 17, 2024 at 19.00 o’clock.

Reflects the Spirit of Turkish Food

Özlem Warren, an award-winning author and respected Turkish cooking teacher, introduced her latest book, "SEBZE", which invites readers into the world of Turkish vegetarian dishes. The book offers a variety of easy-to-follow vegetarian recipes that capture the spirit of excellent Turkish cooking for everyday meals.

Delicious Recipes from Different Regions of Anatolia

During the presentation, Özlem Warren shared her views on the rich history and fusion of cultures that influence Turkish cuisine, especially from the Anatolian region. Talking about hearty casseroles, colorful salads and rich vegetarian recipes specific to different geographical regions, Warren underlined that his recipes are not only nutritious but also have a modern approach to traditional dishes that are enjoyable to create.

One of the most important moments of the night was Özlem Warren's tribute to the unique culinary traditions of these regions by telling stories from different regions of Anatolia. Talking about local ingredients and sharing recipes from Hatay, which was recently hit by an earthquake, Warren reminded us of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of food to bring people together in difficult times.

The Stories of Food Also in This Book

After the presentation, participants had the chance to have their books signed and taste some of the recipes in the book. During the tasting, participants had the opportunity to experience first-hand the flavors and stories behind the vegetarian dishes, which they were sure would inspire home cooking.

Among the recipes prepared specially for the evening and highly appreciated by the participants are Rolled Pastry with Eggplant, Pepper and Onion which is a summer dish with eggplant; dried apricot dessert, a light and easy dessert, and orange revani with orange slices which is a moist semolina sponge cake with light syrup.

The book, which has received praise from important names in the culinary world such as Nigella Lawson, further solidifies its place among the must-haves for those interested in Turkish vegetarian cuisine.
