Panel "Victory of Democracy on July 15th " in Brazil

Sao Paulo Yunus Emre Enstitüsü organized a program titled "The Victory of Democracy on July 15th " to explain the military coup attempt by Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and the events in its aftermath.

The event held at the Salas Brazil Conference Centre was held  in three sessions following the opening speeches by Sao Paulo Consul General of Turkey Mehmet Özgün Arman, Director of Sao Paulo Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Hüsamettin Aslan, and Head of Brazilian Muslim Sheiks Sheikh Abdelhamid Metwally.

In the sessions attended by representatives of journalists, writers, academics and representatives of non-governmental organizations from Turkey and Brazil, the period during and following the coup attempt and how Brazilians view these events, was discussed.

National Islamic Society Director of Religious Affairs and Secretary General of Council of Theologians Sheikh Khalid Taki al-Din spoke at the panel, stressing that the July 15th coup attempt routed by the Turkish people, was a major turning point in history of humanity.

Stating that FETÖ uses religion as a shield to overthrow the democratic regime and they can not accept this, Taki al-Din said: "Inform the society about twisted people like Fetullah Gülen and demanding that this organization stands trial for the crimes they committed against Turkey, the most modern model of democracy in the world, is our duty. "

"We will intensively work towards establishing public diplomacy"

Consul General Arman made a statement to AA correspondent stressing that the heinous coup attempt Turkey went through, was sincerely discussed for the first time in Brazil in this activity.

Arman said that thanks to the information shared by speakers from Turkey, the Brazilian people can better comprehend the July 15th process that took place and its aftermath.

Enstitü Director Aslan said that they addressed a qualified and well-informed audience with the event they organized.

Aslan explained that they will try to establish more effective relations with similar organizations to be held in the future, and that Turkey's relations with the Muslim community on the continent have been insubstantial so far.

Referring to the fact that they observed the relations between Turkey and the Muslim communities in the region with the panel, Aslan said, "As Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, we will intensively work towards establishing public diplomacy in the region and in this country.”

Event was attended by journalists and writers Turan Kışlakçı, Kurtuluş Tayiz, Ufuk Coşkun, Rahim Er from Turkey, Rector of İstanbul Yeni Yüzyıl  University Prof. Dr. Yaşar Hacısalihoğlu, Dr. Muzaffer Şenel from Istanbul University, Police Academy Centre for International Terrorism and Security Studies Assoc. Dr. Necati Anaz, Primary Consultant to Prime Minister Mustafa Şen, Turkish African Initiative Chairman Mustafa Murat Özel and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Colombia Program Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Özkan.

The program will continue in Rio after sessions in Sao Paulo.
