"Songs of Germany" Sung in Cologne

A penal discussion entitled "Songs of Germany" has been held, followed by a concert in which songs about separation from homeland were sung, in Cologne, Germany.

During the panel discussion held at the University of Cologne, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk discussed the folk songs written by the first generation of Turkish expats who migrated to Europe as well their social problems.

In the panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Dr. Eckehard Pistrick, a faculty member of the University of Cologne, Dortmund Orpheus Music Ensemble Chairman Rebal Alkhodari and Çiğdem Ahi, from Yurdun Sesi Ensemble, delivered speeches.

The program was organized jointly by the European Music Ethnology Institute of the University of Cologne and Yunus Emre Institute's Cologne Branch, and one of the first music ensembles established by Turkish expats in Germany, Yurdun Sesi Ensemble, conducted by Cengiz İyilik, gave a concert. The songs about separation from homeland, also translated to German, garnered the attention of music lovers
