Tehran Yunus Emre Institute Organizes Iftar Program for Its Students at A Turkish Restaurant

Tehran Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) brought its students together at an iftar program where the flavors of Turkish cuisine were served.

YEI, which continues its activities with cultural studies as well as language teaching in the capital of Iran, brought together its students learning Turkish and those who have previously completed their language education at the iftar table.

Gathering around the iftar table at the Turkish restaurant Mehmet Steakhouse in Tehran, YEI's Iranian students and Turkish citizen students who continue their education at different universities in Tehran shared the blessings of Ramadan.

Ramadan Iftars Added to Unesco's Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Tehran YEI Coordinator İbrahim Furkan Özdemir stated that this year, Ramadan iftars were added to UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list under the leadership of Türkiye, Iran, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Expressing that they attach importance to cultural activities, Özdemir used the following expressions: “As Tehran Yunus Emre Institute, we had the opportunity to break the fast at a Turkish restaurant together with our trainees at our institute and Turkish students studying in Iran. On this occasion, I congratulate everyone on Ramadan."

Stating that they thanked the institute for inviting them to iftar and said, “It was very nice. I enjoyed it very much as a Yunus Emre Institute C2 student. “We came with friends and tried Turkish food, it was very good.” YEI Turkish student Nahid Saadetiyan.

“I learned Turkish to discover Turkish food”

Turkish student Anahita Recebi, who said that she was happy to participate in the iftar program, used the following expressions: “Everything was very nice. Ramadan is a very important month for us, we attach great importance to it both in Iran and Türkiye. It is very valuable to us. We came here for iftar today.”

Stating that he loves Turkish food very much, “For me, the most delicious food is Turkish food. In fact, one of the reasons I learned Turkish was to discover Turkish food. We had a very nice evening here with our friends today. Thank you all." Recebi said.

Recebi said that the "Newroz Holiday", which is considered the beginning of the new year in Iran, is approaching and wished a good holiday for all.

Fernaz Behrami, who learned Turkish at Yunus Emre Institute, also mentioned that the iftar table created a nice atmosphere and said that the food was very nice and she thanked YEI for the invitation.

Stating tated that Newroz is an important holiday for them and said, "I wish you all health, peace and plenty of money." said.

Mehmet Avşar, the owner of the Turkish restaurant, stated that they prepared a menu consisting of Turkish dishes for the iftar program of Yunus Emre Institute and said that they were happy that the guests were satisfied.

Providing information about the menu, Avşar stated that they started serving with ezogelin soup, iftar plate, salad and appetizers and said, “Our döner is leaf doner. We had three types of meatballs; We served it with İnegöl meatballs, butcher's meatballs and meatballs with kashar chees. The guests were very pleased and liked it. It was a good iftar.” he said.
