Third Radio Academy Awards Publicity Meeting held in Istanbul

The most comprehensive Turkish award organization in field of radio broadcasting, Radio Academy Awards to be held for the third time on February 10th, 2017, was introduced to press before the vote in an event held at historic Malta Kiosk.

Before the publicity event, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş gathered with the crew of Diriliş Ertuğrul series at Çadır Pavilion. Ateş spoke with Cavit Çetin Güner who plays Doğan Alp character, Ezgi Esma Kürklü who plays Bani Çiçek character in the series, and Chief of Corporate Communications Hüseyin Özçelik, and stated that Diriliş Ertuğrul television series watched in 39 countries, have greatly contributed in introduction of Turkish history and culture.

In the publicity event that brought together many figures from radio, culture and art circles, a minute of silence was kept for July 15th martyrs, police officers, soldiers and civilians martyred in terror attacks in Istanbul and Kayseri, and soldiers that fell in Fırat Kalkanı Operation was followed by performance of Turkish National Anthem.

In the publicity event, General Coordinator of National Radio Platform Erkut Aktaş, TRT FM Coordinator Ayfer Durak, Beykoz Municipality Deputy Mayor Muharrem Kaşıtoğlu and Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş made speeches.

International Radio Platform General Coordinator Erkut Aktaş who made the first speech at the publicity meeting and gave information about the award organization, spoke as follows: "Radio Academy Awards cover all radio stations and broadcasters in Turkey. Radios from seven regions of Turkey will compete in this organization to become the regional 'Radio of the Year'. We have determined several new categories as 'Radio Music Director of the Year' and 'Radio Production Team of the Year'. The public vote will begin on Facebook on January 1st , 2017 and end on February 1st, 2017. After the popular vote, Academy Committee formed by prominent names of radio and music worlds, will determine the winners for each category. Voting will be carried out via world's most trusted system, Facebook Voting System, on www.radyoakademiodulleri.com. The awards will be presented in a grand ceremony to be organized in Istanbul Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall on Friday, February 10th, 2017 at 8.00 pm.”

TRT FM Coordinator Ayfer Durak also made a speech at the publicity meeting. Noting that the radio stations have collaboratively carried out fine operations in a friendly competition, Durak also read a brief statement on behalf of the radio broadcasters which contained a message of unity and solidarity against terrorism. Declaration said, "As radio broadcasters, we will always be side by side for national unity, for our homeland, and our flag under any circumstances."

Beykoz Municipality Deputy Mayor Muharrem Kaşıtoğlu spoke as follows: "We organize the third Radio Academy Awards this year, making it traditional. Radio Academy Awards that make us proud and happy by expanding every year, has become an organization not only honouring and rewarding radio broadcasters but also a symbol of  homage to past and a legacy to the future. It is a great source of moral and motivation for us to meet with you, distinguished radio broadcasters and artists before the big night. "

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş spoke as follows at the publicity meeting of the Third Radio Academy Awards:

"Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, operational since 2009, carries out activities aimed at introduction of Turkey, Turkish language, literature, history, culture and art, and strengthening the friendships and cultural ties between Turkey and other countries, currently in 50 Cultural Centres established in 40 countries. Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, the cultural institution of Turkey, plays an important role in making the ancient sound of Turkish heard around the world, and in promotion of our historical and cultural heritage. Named after Yunus Emre, the great Anatolian Sufi for representing humanitarian values, humanism and social peace, the aim of the Enstitü is to enable people of the world get better acquainted with Turkey and through correct sources.

As Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, with support of our government, we have realized numerous projects in fields of culture-art and Turkish instruction to date, and have created brands. One of these brands is Türkçenin Sesi Radyosu (Sound of Turkish Radio) that carries the vision and mission of the Enstitü to media platform, broadcasting for a year.

Türkçenin Sesi Radyosu was founded in 2015 to offer language instruction for various levels and to broadcast culture-art shows in line with founding objectives of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü. It is a new-generation radio that broadcasts using internet technologies, targeting an audience of foreigners who aspire to learn Turkish and Turkish culture both home and abroad. At the same time, it is the address where Yunus Emre Enstitüsü announces its activities to the whole world. Our radio today broadcasts in 139 countries, and continues to produce in various fields such as Turkish, culture, art, literature, history, news and sports on a weekly and daily basis.

Established in 2015 International Radio Platform OYDAR, a Turkey-based organization that brings world's radio stations together on a single platform, has recently realized significant projects. It was an honour that the Enstitü's media organ, Sound of Turkish Radio was deemed worthy of the 'Intercultural Friendship and Interaction Award' at the Second Radio Academy Awards  held on May  6th Turkish Radio Broadcasters' Day this year.

As a cultural institution, our primary goal is to introduce Turkish language, culture and art, and to explain traditional and modern Turkish music at different points of the world, and we have hosted many projects and concerts in this sense. We are glad to be a partner in the Third Radio Academy Awards, a major organization to take place on February 10th, 2017.

In the first part of this special night to bring together radio, culture and music circles, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü will present six figures with awards who have contributed in promotion of Turkey, Turkish language, culture and art both at home and abroad. I would like to express my appreciation to organizers of this event OYDAR and 2645 Istanbul, host Beykoz Municipality, and to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and Natural Conservation and National Parks General Directorate for their contributions, and pay respect to all.”

The Radio Academy Awards that has acquired an international dimension through its collaboration with Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and brought along many innovations this year, aims to honour people with achievements in radio, music and culture fields, and to create a friendly competition environment for high-quality productions.
