Turkish Arts Exhibition in Zagreb

Turkish Arts Exhibition, which includes works from calligraphy, marbling, illumination, kat'i and miniature arts, was opened to visitors in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.

More than 30 works were included in the exhibition opened in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Zagreb, Zagreb Yunus Emre Institute (YEI), Islamic Union of Croatia, Zagreb City Turkish Minority Representation and Üsküdar Classical Turkish Arts Foundation.

In the exhibition opened at YEI's cultural center on April 3, 2024, the Kalima Shahadah, Bismillah, surahs and verses from the Holy Quran, prayers and hadiths written in calligraphy were presented to the taste of art lovers.

Apart from calligraphy, rich examples of marbling, miniature, kat'i (paper or leather carving art) and illumination art, which reflect the rich cultural accumulation of the Ottoman civilization, especially the period of Mehmet the Conqueror, were also included in the exhibition.

The Facsimile Karahisari Quran, written by Ahmed Şemseddin Karahisari for the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and the original of which is in Topkapı Palace, was also exhibited at the Turkish Arts Exhibition.

The exhibition included the Kalima Shahada, Bismillah, surahs and verses from our holy book, the Holy Quran, prayers and hadiths engraved with calligraphy. Apart from calligraphy, rich examples of miniature, illumination and kat'i art reflecting the rich cultural accumulation of the Ottoman Civilization, especially the period of Mehmet the Conqueror, were also included in the exhibition.

Ertan Yılmaz, former Croatian President İvo Josipovic, Zagreb YEI Coordinator Fuat Korkmaz, Croatian Islamic Union President Aziz Hasanovic, Police Academy President Josip Celic, Croatian Caritas Director Fra Tomislav Glavnik, Zagreb Orthodox Church Chief Priest Majk Zikic, City of Zagreb attended the opening of the exhibition. Turkish Minority Representative Bari Ahmedi, Üsküdar Classical Turkish Arts Foundation representatives Ömer Faruk Gurbetçi and Ahmet Yalçınkaya, ambassadors, business people and art lovers from different segments of the Croatian society attended.

The exhibition, which can be visited until May 3, will be presented to art lovers at the Sisak Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Islamic Cultural Center after the capital Zagreb.
