Turkish Becomes An Elective Course in Some High Schools in Hungary

Turkish will be an elective foreign language course in 8 high schools in Hungary this year with the initiatives of Budapest Yunus Emre Institute (YEI).

A cooperation protocol in the field of Turkish language teaching was signed between Budapest Yunus Emre Institute and the North Budapest Education District Center affiliated with Budapest Region III.

At the signing ceremony where Budapest Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Mustafa Aydoğdu and Tamas Ilona, Director of the North Budapest Education District Center, were present, Turkish will be included in the curriculum as an elective foreign language course in 8 high schools affiliated with the center as of the 2022-2023 academic year with the protocol signed within the scope of the "My Preference is Turkish Project" carried out by Yunus Emre Institute.

 

"WE WILL CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN THE BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP"

In the statement made by Budapest Yunus Emre Institute regarding the signed protocol, it was stated that "We will continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship with various cultural activities as well as Turkish lessons."

Regional Center Director Ilona stated that the relations between the two countries continue to develop and strengthen in many fields, especially in the fields of education and culture, and that one of the most lasting bonds of this friendship is the work done here. 

Expressing their satisfaction with this situation, Ilona said that they are looking forward to saying "hello" to the new academic year. 

Within the framework of the protocol, in addition to teaching Turkish in schools in the region, activities promoting Turkish culture and traditional Turkish archery courses will also be organized within the scope of the Kemankeş Project carried out by the Institute.

On the other hand, it is aimed to carry out the Sister School Project between Turkish-Hungarian high schools and to bring many students together on the Turkish axis in the coming years through mutual visits and student exchanges.

As 2024 will be celebrated as the "Turkey-Hungary Year of Culture", with the initiatives of the Budapest Yunus Emre Institute, it is aimed to contribute to the Year of Culture activities by giving Turkish lessons in schools in the region and introduce the historical and cultural elements between the two countries with the culture and art activities planned to be organized.
