Yunus Emre Enstitüsü will begin teaching Turkish at the International University of Africa in Sudan in the next academic year.

A protocol was signed between the Khartoum Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and the International University of Africa to launch Turkish lessons as of September 2017.

The signing ceremony was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Khartoum Cemalettin Aydın, Rector of the International University of Africa Prof. Dr. Kamal Mohammad Obeid, Khartoum Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Director Feyzullah Bahçi and Dean of Faculty of Languages Prof. Dr. Sayed Hamid Huriz.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rector of the International University of Africa Prof. Dr. Obeid stated that their university previously signed cooperation protocols with 13 universities in Turkey and hosted various conferences, and that Turkey and Turkish lessons are important for them in this sense.

Ambassador Aydın stated that there is a historical connection between Sudan and Turkey, and expressed Turkey's willingness to do everything in its power for Sudan in this respect.

Aydın stated that he noticed the necessity of introducing Turkish language, culture and history in Khartoum after taking office in Sudan, and said, "In this sense, it was very important for me to open a Yunus Emre Enstitüsü centre in Sudan. We took steps to inaugurate an Enstitü centre in Khartoum nearly 1,5 years ago, and the centre launched Turkish lessons in November and then cultural activities. "

Firstly the Holy Koran and Khartoum Universities

Aydın marked that Turkish courses launched in Holy Koran University in Sudan were the first and improved by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, spoke as follows: “Later a second protocol was signed with Khartoum University. Classrooms and library were rearranged based on Turkish architecture and then lessons took start. We are also ready to give a similar support to the University of Africa. "

With the signed protocol, the aim is to strengthen the academic ties between the two countries as well as offering Turkish language courses at the university in the next academic year.

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü has reached 1 million people in last year by carrying out around a thousand activities in many world countries and taught 6,349 students Turkish in language courses organized. Since its establishment in 2009, the Enstitü has taught Turkish to more than 99 thousand people in 40 countries and introduced Turkish culture.
