Tambur player Murat Aydemir and classical kemençe player Sokratis Sinopoulos took stage at the "Aegean Breezes" concert held in Cologne, Germany.

During the concert organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Cologne Branch in cooperation with Cologne-Istanbul Sister City Association, the Cologne-Thessaloniki Sister City Association and İsTanbur at Trinitatis Church, a repertoire of Turkish and Greek tunes attracted a great deal of attention from German, Greek and Turkish guests.

Murat Aydemir

Murat Aydemir was introduced to tambur during his musical education at Istanbul Technical University, and he issued numerous albums collaborating with a number of players. He is currently giving makam (modality of Turkish music) and tambur courses at music schools. His English book on Turkish makams, "Makam Guide," has been translated into Greek and Turkish, and he has been working at Classical Turkish Music Choir of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey since 1990.

Sokratis Sinopoulos

Classical kemençe, first mentioned in the written sources in the 9th century, has been taken by Greek player Sinopoulos to a different dimension. Worldwide renown player Sinopoulos received Melina-Mercouri Award in 1999. As a faculty member of Music and Art Faculty at Macedonia University in Thessaloniki, he maintains his studies on music.
