Yunus Emre Institute Starts Turkish Theater Activities in Gagauz Autonomous Region

Yunus Emre Institute is implementing the "Cultural Heritage of the Turkish World Gagauz Land" project for Turkish people living in the Gagauz region of Moldova, with the mission of promoting Turkish culture, art and language at a global level and encouraging international exchange in these regions.

The "Gagauz Land, Cultural Heritage of the Turkic World" project aims to build bridges between different cultures and share common values, as a part of Yunus Emre Institute's cultural diplomacy efforts. The events that will start in April offer the opportunity to introduce Gagauz Turks more closely to the rich cultural heritage of the Turkish world.

Aims to Strengthen Cultural Awareness and a Sense of Common Identity

Four adult plays based on the Legends of Döngü (Dede) Korkut, performed by the Theater Tempo team, will be performed within the framework of Kşinev, Komrat, Çadır Lunga and Vulkaneşt. These performances aim to convey the universal data and human stories of legends and performing arts. The children's play and workshop called "The Garden of Selfishness" will be held in 22 village schools providing education in Turkish. These events organized for children and adults aim to reinforce cultural awareness and identity in Gagauz community by emphasizing the richness and diversity of Turkish theater.

The vision of Yunus Emre Institute is to develop a comprehensive worldwide appreciation of Turkish language and culture and to develop international collaborations in this field. With the "Gagauz Land, the Cultural Heritage of the Turkic World" project, the Institute takes an important step in terms of this vision for Gagauz Turks.
