Turkish Culture Introduced to the Chinese Students in Beijing

A group of students from different schools from out of Beijing were guests in Beijing Yunus Emre Institute before the upcoming Chinese New Year Spring Holiday.

After the national anthem ceremony, a special presentation about Turkey and Turkish culture were delivered to the younger students in particular. Young guests from China expressed their new year wishes for their Turkish friends and Turkey after the cultural and art events prepared for the students.

BLACK SEA HORON AND KUNGFU SHOW

Special cultural and art activities were prepared in Beijing Yunus Emre Institute for Chinese students. Chinese students participated in many art workshops with great enthusiasm within the cultural and art activities.

The audience showed great admiration for the Black Sea Horon dance staged within the Turkish Folk Dances Workshop by Lena Ekizer. Students attempted to learn this dance from the Black Sea region by joining in.

 

THE BLUE EYE TALISMAN AND WOOD PAINTING WORKSHOPS

Chinese students performed a Kung Fu show after Horon. They staged a short performance from the Traditional Chinese Opera and expressed their wishes for the new year.

After the art performances, students took a tour of Beijing Yunus Emre Institute.

Artist Ayşe Gümüş delivered a presentation on blue eye talisman and cherry wood painting within the arts and crafts workshop. Students participated to the blue eye talisman and cherry wood painting workshops after the presentation.

BEIJING YEI ON CHINESE STATE TELEVISION

Guests shot a special video message where they wished Turkey and their Turkish friends happy new year by saying Yunus Emre’s famous phrase “Let’s come to know one another” in Chinese, after the Turkish workshop which was held by Beijing Embassy Educational Counselor Dr. Cansu Körkem Akçay. In addition to promotional videos of Turkey, special promotional videos of Ministry of National Education, Education Information Network (EBA), and Vocational Training were played as well.  During the event, Chinese State Television (CCTV)’s 4th Channel shot exclusive videos and interviewed the Turkish authorities in Beijing Yunus Emre Institute.

THE MOST IMPORTANT CULTURAL EVENT IN CHINA

Traditional Chinese New Year Spring Holiday, which is one of the most important cultural events, is celebrated in February every year. The color red, which is believed to bring good luck and fortune, is evidently dominant everywhere for this holiday, which has taken a place in the world public memory with the photos of hundreds of millions of Chinese people returning to their homes. Having meals with the whole family and gift giving ceremonies are among the significant traditions. According to the traditional 12 Animal Chinese calendar, 2022 is the year of the tiger.
