The 109th Anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Victory Celebrated in Lebanon

A commemoration event was held in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, as part of the 18 March Martyrs' Memorial Day and the 109th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory.

Türkiye's Ambassador in Beirut Ali Barış Ulusoy, Beirut Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Esra Yılmaz, Ministry of National Education Education Advisor Assoc. Dr. Celal Turgut Koç, Military Attaché Colonel Hüseyin Başaran, embassy staff, diplomats, students of the Turkology Department of Lebanese University attended the event held at Beirut Yunus Emre Institute.

After a minute of silence for the martyrs, the National Anthem and the Jordanian Royal Anthem were sung.

Speaking at the event, "It is a great pleasure to be with you, hosted by Beirut Yunus Emre Institute, on the occasion of this ceremony held on the occasion of 18 March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Memorial Day, March 12 Adoption of our National Anthem and 20-27 December Mehmet Akif Ersoy Commemoration Week." Ulusoy noted that they commemorate National Poet Ersoy, who passed away on December 27, 1936, with mercy, gratitude and respect.

“It expresses our nation's love of independence and love of the homeland in the most beautiful way.”

Beirut Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Yılmaz also said that the Çanakkale Victory was one of the most important turning points in the Turkish nation's struggle for existence and that this victory was written in golden letters in history with the determination, heroism and love of the homeland of the Turkish soldier.

"The distinguished verses written by Ersoy express our nation's love of independence and love of the homeland in the most beautiful way." Yılmaz said.

Ministry of National Education Education Advisor Koç also stated the following:

"The Çanakkale Victory took its place in history as a heroic epic in which 250 thousand suns set for the sake of a crescent. Our National Anthem, which was written in such an environment and first echoed on the walls of the Taceddin Dervish Lodge in Ankara, has remained hot in the hearts of this nation for more than 100 years. It resonates in the language and will continue to echo forever."

The event ended with separate video screenings about the Çanakkale Victory, the Gallipoli Virtual Museum and Ersoy.
