Deputy Prime Minister Tuğrul Türkeş stated that the Anadolu Agency (AA) that prepared a photography exhibition reflecting the events during FETÖ's coup attempt, performed a great service and the photographs allow better analysis of the events.

A photography exhibition titled "Rise of National Will" coorganized by Nicosia Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and AA depicts the events during July 15th coup attempt by Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) through the lenses of AA photojournalists, and opened its doors to visitors.

Deputy Prime Minister Türkeş, Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia Derya Kanbay, Turkish diplomats in Nicosia Embassy and Director of Nicosia Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Hüseyin Şahin were present in the opening ceremony widely attended by representatives of local media organizations in TRNC and citizens.

After examining the photographs in the exhibition, Türkeş emphasized that he did not notice many events in the evening of coup attempt and that these photographs helped him analyze the events better.

"Objectively reflects what happened that night"

Underlining that AA has carried out a very important task, Türkeş pointed out that the facial expressions, behaviours and reactions of citizens in the photographs enable better analysis of the coup attempt.

Türkeş said, "I hope and wish that the people in the countries where you open exhibitions will also visit these exhibitions and better understand what we went through," and stated that the Westerners have difficulty in comprehending the coup attempt. Türkeş said, "In that respect, these exhibitions reflect the events of that night objectively. I find this important. I congratulate Anadolu Agency.”

After signing the memo book of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, Türkeş marked the following:

"I visited the on July 15 2016 with Anadolu Agency Photographs Exhibition organised by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü in Nicosia we visited on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I recalled once again the events on that day. It is the faith, sensitivity and most importantly civil struggle of the people against indignified coup supporters. God protected all of us and took mercy on our country and nation. May God rest the souls of our martyrs."
