Fifth stop of Culture Nights organised by Sound of Turkish Radio as part of Turkish Summer School was Çanakkale. Friendship Truck that travelled from town to town, was welcomed enthusiastically in Çanakkale following Samsun, Ankara, Denizli and İzmir.

20 students from 10 countries hosted by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, received training in Çanakkale 18 Mart University and participated in various cultural events, welcomed Friendship Truck in Çanakkale Republic Square. The activities lasted for two hours in the square that witnessed pleasant moments, and guest students gave messages supporting Turkey, sang together with Çanakkale locals and performed folk dances.

Following the program in Republic Square, a dinner hosted by Çanakkale 18 Mart University featuring also various activities, took place. Turkish song performed by Turkish Summer School student Ardita Bylo was widely enjoyed by the audience. After the dinner, Culture Nights took start with all its enthusiasm in İskele Square, the most central spot in Çanakkale, an open-air museum where a life-sized model of the historic “Trojan Horse” and models depicting the history of Çanakkale from ancient ages to our day are situated. Çanakkale locals who filled İskele Square warmly welcomed Turkish Summer School students.

Culture Nights took start with various activity and competitions held by host Mert Talat Dilekçioğlu and participated by Çanakkale locals who filled the square. Culture Nights attended also by Çanakkale Deputy Mayor Ali Sürücü, continued with the opening speech by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Deputy Director Assoc. Prof Ebubekir Ceylan. Ceylan elaborated on Enstitü's activities and Turkish Summer School thanked Çanakkale Governorship, Çanakkale Mayorship, 18 Mart University and Çanakkale locals.

Following the opening speeches 20 students filled the ground in local folk dance attire and performed folk dance “harmandalı”. Turkish Summer School students who performed the dance one more time by audience's demand, introduced themselves one by one after the show.

Following the folk dance performance, the event titled “I Compete in Turkish” waited excitedly by all took start. Haleh Zamanfer from Iran, Sabah Sıla from Fas, Ulzhan Chingizova from Kazakistan, Rovshan Almazov from Poland and Ardita Bylo from Albania competed in the event in a friendly atmosphere broadcast live on Sound of Turkish Radio. Three students who scored eight out of ten questions about Turkish culture, history, art, Çanakkale history and Turkish grammar shared the top place.  Hale Zamanfar, Rovshan Almazov and Ulzhan Chingizova received their awards from Enstitü Vice President Assoc. Prof. Ebubekir Ceylan.

Widely attended by Çanakkale locals, Culture Nights ended with a group shoot after the competition. Next stop of Culture Nights is Bursa. Friendship Truck will meet with 40 students from 20 countries and Bursa locals at Bursa City Square on August 14^th Sunday, between 8 and 10 P.M.
