The Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS), the first and only internationally recognized Turkish language exam developed by Yunus Emre Institute with the approval of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) Q-mark (ALTE Quality Mark), was held in Russia in 2023.

The second Turkish Proficiency Exam in 2023 was held simultaneously in Moscow and for the first time, in Saint Petersburg. Moscow Yunus Emre Institute and the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Saint Petersburg hosted the exam.

Commenting on the implementation of the Turkish Proficiency Exam in Saint Petersburg for the first time, Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Mehmet Samsar stated: "We are very pleased that the Turkish Proficiency Exam, which we have been conducting in Moscow for a long time, will now be held in Saint Petersburg as well. I hope that hosting the Turkish Proficiency Exam in cities other than Moscow will increase the interest in learning Turkish."

Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Saint Petersburg Özgün Talu remarked: "It was our pleasure to host the Turkish Proficiency Exam in our Consulate General. In this way, people from Saint Petersburg who wish to certify their Turkish skills at the international level will no longer need to travel to Moscow to take the Turkish Proficiency Exam."

Moscow Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Dr. Mehmet Ülker commented: "We are proud to implement the Turkish Proficiency Exam for the first time outside of Moscow, in Saint Petersburg."

THE FIRST AND ONLY INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED TURKISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE

The TYS, which has been administered periodically three times a year as a paper-based exam since 2013, measures the reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills of the candidates, and the successful candidates are given "Turkish Proficiency Certificate" at B2 and C1 levels according to their scores.

Candidates who hold a Turkish Proficiency Certificate can start their education at universities in Türkiye without attending a Turkish preparatory program. Turkish Proficiency Certificate provides a great advantage to certificate holders in job applications and career planning.

The results of the Turkish Proficiency Exam are announced on the website "sinav.yee.org.tr".
