Yunus Emre Institute's (YEI) Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS) was held on May 15, 2022, face-to-face and simultaneously at 40 centers and 37 countries.

The most extensive applications for the exam were from Baku, Tashkent, Ankara, Turkistan, and A’zaz centers, respectively.

TYS is the only Turkish exam with international validity by receiving the ALTE Q-Mark. Those who are entitled to receive the Turkish proficiency certificates of TYS have many advantages in the education and business world.

TURKISH PROFICIENCY EXAM IN TEHRAN FROM YUNUS EMRE INSTITUTE

Yunus Emre Institute conducted the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS) in Tehran, the capital of Iran.

Tehran Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Abdullah Yegin said in a statement regarding the exam, “Students studying Turkish, both in our institute and elsewhere, need exams to learn and determine their Turkish proficiency. Today, together with the whole world, we carried out this exam in Tehran, Iran.’’

Saying that there are different exams in Turkey where Turkish proficiency is tested, Yegin remarked that TYS administered by Yunus Emre Institute is the only exam approved by the international quality standard ALTE (The Association of Language Testers in Europe).

Yegin noted that the pandemic conditions affected the interest in the exam, but they were satisfied with the interest after the Covid-19 circumstances.

YUNUS EMRE INSTITUTE’S TURKISH PROFICIENCY EXAM

The exam, which can be taken by anyone who needs to certify their Turkish level, is held in three sessions.

Those who are successful in the exam are entitled to receive a “Turkish Proficiency Certificate’’ at certain levels according to their scores.

The TYS exam, developed within the scope of the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages’’ (CEFR), is important for students to facilitate the acceptance of job and education applications and ensure that they are evaluated on a more robust level.

TYS has been applied every year on an international scale since 2013. Those who have the Turkish Proficiency Certificate are exempted from the preparatory class when they gain the right to study at any institution in Turkey.

Turkish Proficiency Certificate provides a huge advantage in job applications for those who want to work in companies operating internationally in Turkey or their home country or interpret in Turkish or for teachers who want to teach Turkish abroad.

With the Turkish Proficiency Exam, which is applied internationally and developed by Yunus Emre Institute, it is aimed to be an internationally standardized Turkish exam and to support policies that facilitate student admission from abroad.
