From Göbeklitepe to the World: "Man and Life" Journey

The "Days of Turkey" event, organized by Yunus Emre Institute to promote diverse colors and voices of Turkey, will start on April 3.

With numerous activities conducted around the world, Yunus Emre Institute contributes to the promotion of diverse aspects of our country, and it has come up with another event for 2019. The Institute will promote different aspects of Turkey at various cultural and artistic activities under the "Week of Turkey" project, developed by taking Göbeklitepe, as one of the world's eldest monuments dating back to 12,000 years ago, within scope of the 2019: Year of Göbeklitepe.

The "Week of Turkey" event, which is planned to be held with different theme every year, will feature the "Göbeklitepe: Man and Life" main theme this year, and it will commence in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, between April 3 and 7, 2019. Throughout the year, the events will continue to be held in Zagreb (Croatia), Madrid (Spain), Tirana (Albania), Beirut (Lebanon), Belgrade (Serbia), Kiev (Ukraine), Saint Petersburg (Russia), and Tunis (Tunisia).

First destination: Bucharest

The "Week of Turkey" event, in which different aspects of Turkey will be promoted, will be held in Bucharest between April 3 and 7, 2019. Inspired by the historical journey of Göbeklitepe, which represents the emergence of the first cities, bureaucracy, writing and states in history, i.e., the beginning of civilization, the riches of Turkey will first meet Romania.

The events to be conducted in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, under the mentoring of Yunus Emre Institute will commence with the Turkey Reception, to be held on Wednesday, April 3, with support from the Turkish Embassy in Bucharest, the Turkish Businessmen Association, the Ministry of Culture of Romania, the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Regional Development Administration, etc.

The events to be undertaken throughout the week will include the opening of the Göbeklitepe Photography Exhibition and Göbeklitepe Conference, to be attended by Göbeklitepe Excavation Committee Chairman Celal Uludağ, at Bucharest National Library, the Anatolian Civilization Ceramic Exhibition and workshop by award-winning artists Prof. Dr. Sıdıka Sevim and Dr. Cemalettin Sevin, lecturers at the Anadolu University, at Bucharest History Museum, the "Spirit of Anatolia" concert and music mastery classroom by artist Uğur Işık at Bucharest Art Museum, the promotion of Turkish coffee and Turkish cuisine workshops with the participation of Turkish Coffee Culture and Research Association, Turkish film screenings, city and culture promotion areas and traditional kids games. As part of the program, the Bucharest Chamber of Industry and Commerce will organize an economy meeting on Turkey's gastronomy tourism and the tourism and industry potential of the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
