GPDNet Presidency Given to Yunus Emre Enstitüsü

With the decision taken in the Third General Meeting of Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDNet) held in Krakow city in Poland, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü that represents Turkey was elected as network president for the next three years.

In the meeting held on June 24-25 2016, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü representatives reconvened with GPDNet members to create a synergy in the field of cultural and public diplomacy.

Presentations open to press were made on the first day of the meetings and on June 25, Saturday GPDNet announced our Enstitü as the president of GPDNet for the next three years in the meeting attended also by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş.

TRT Haber held an interview with Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş who spoke as follows: “In the coming term, we plan to increase the number of GPDNet members to at least twenty. Our administrative approach will be a value-oriented approach. We will work towards raising more informed generations who respect different cultures.” Prof. Dr. Ateş cited Yunus' quote “Let's get acquainted and make things easier.” After GPDNet members signed GPDNet legislation, Ateş expressed the justified pride in Yunus Emre Enstitü's presidency and made a presentation on Enstitü's operations in the field of global public  diplomacy to date as the new president of GPDNet.

The joint project Enstitü plans to carry out under GPDNet and the agenda and program of the Fourth General Meeting Enstitü will host in 2017 were shared with all GPDNet members in the meeting.

Korea Foundation's “Photographs and Sustainable Development Goals” Social Responsibility Project

Realised by Korea Foundation under GPDNet, the project titled “Photographs and Sustainable Development Goals” was also supported by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü. In this context, two professional photography artists assigned by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, took photographs in Tam Thanh village on World Heritage List near Da Nang City in Vietnam between June 13-19 and held a photography training for elementary and secondary school students here and introduced Turkey and Yunus Emre Enstitüsü. The opening of the exhibition in which a selection of the photographs taken throughout the photo safari in Vietnam, will be held Seoul in January 2017.
