‘’The Microtones of Anatolia’’ Concert in Amsterdam

Professor Tolgahan Çoğulu, a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Turkish Music State Conservatory, performed Anatolian melodies for the Dutch with his adjustable microtonal guitar.

In addition to many Dutch and Turkish music lovers, Engin Arıkan, Turkish Consulate General in Amsterdam, took part in the concert, which was held in the Amsterdam Concert Hall on March 13, 2022 with the organization of Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute (YEI).

In the concert organized with the motto of ‘’Microtones of Anatolia’’, apart from Çoğulu, Neyzen Cengiz Arslanpay and pianist Ere Lievonen presented a selection of Anatolian melodies.

After the concert, Çoğulu gave adjustable microtonal guitar lessons to Dutch musicians.

MICROTONAL GUITAR IS PATENTED

Çoğulu reported that he obtained a patent for the adjustable microtonal guitar, which he believed would be the classical guitar of the 21st century and that could move all frets.

Stating that all tones of his music can be played with this instrument completely and without distortion, Çoğulu said that his guitar has been following with admiration in many countries, especially in the USA and Europe.

Along with Yunus Emre Institute, Municipality of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Art Fund Association, and Amsterdam concert hall contributed to the concert.
