A true story from immigration camps: "Aleppo - Istanbul / The Guest"

The lives of Syrian immigration inspire many films. The film entitled "Aleppo - Istanbul / The Guest," which is based on the true stories of the war victims who struggle to survive in the immigration camps, was released on September 14.

Directed by Andaç Haznedaroğlu, who lived with the immigrants in the border camps for three years, the film depicts the way Lena tried to migrate to Europe in the wake of the war in Syria.

The cast includes not only professional actors and actresses such as Saba Mubarek, Rawan Skef, Şebnem Dönmez, Yeşim Ceren Bozoğlu, and Rıza Akın, but also hundreds of Syrian immigrants. The lead actress of the film, shot in one year following three years of preparations, is eight-year-old Rawan Skef. Rawan was selected from among thousands of children in immigrant camps, and she currently lives in an immigrant camp in Greece.

The world premiere of the film was done in the International Antalya Film Festival last year, and its soundtrack was prepared by esteemed composer Toygar Işıklı. Having received the "Avni Tolunay Audience Award" at the International Antalya Film Festival, the film grabbed the "Best Film and Best Editing Award" at Bosphorus Film Festival and continues to attend various festival around globe. The film which has recently won the "Best Film" and "Best Actress" awards at the Silk Road International Film Festival in Dublin and Malmö Arab Film Festival successfully portrays the story of Syrian immigrants in stark reality.

Seven-year-old Lena and her young set on journey to Turkey after losing their relatives in the war in Syria. Lena has to earn money and, at the same, be a mother for his younger sister. She refused to accept the death of her parents and insists on going back to Syria. In this challenging journey, she overcomes all obstacles and turns into a heroine.
